NREGA The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act is an important development in the formal employment category of the economy. It is a legislated employment guarantee program to benefit both rural and urban population through direct employment in rural areas. This can be found in the constitution of India.
There are various reasons why the concept of indirect employment cannot be avoided in the economy. Therefore, NREGA was developed.
Rural people do not own their land. So, they find it difficult to make proper use of it. Thus, their living conditions are very bad. For instance, a farmer needs manure in order to produce the requisite amount of food.
Rural people have no employment options. They are either work at home or go for casual jobs. Many people prefer to work in the rural sector only because of the non-employment options. Sometimes, this scenario of work at home becomes a hotbed for the employment of young minds and displaced young men from the cities.
Many rural people are unable to establish their house, so that they can take up the ownership of land. Thus, they find it difficult to get the required cash flow. In such situations, it becomes necessary to provide employment opportunities.
In order to address this problem, the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act was passed. The provisions of this act are aimed at providing formal employment to people, who are not able to manage or take up the ownership of land. This act is directed towards providing guaranteed direct employment to people who are unable to work in the informal sector of the economy.
Thus, if you are one of the people who can’t provide work on contract basis, then this Act provides an opportunity for the direct employment. Hence, you have the right to work on contract basis on the condition that you will repay the amount, after the completion of the period of employment.
The NREGA service providers work towards providing social welfare in the best possible way. However, the Act also ensures that people work on contracts so that they don’t leave their jobs abruptly. The Government of India has invested a lot of money in the program.
If you wish to become a part of the NREGA system, then you have to apply for the NREGA job quota for the year 2020. Since there are different job quotas for different categories of rural employment, therefore, it is better to understand the different job quotas.
You can apply for NREGA as per your qualification and skills. The employment opportunity is given out by the NREGA through an individualized method, which enables you to decide what job you want to work on.
The Department of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (DSDE) is responsible for administering the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. You have to follow all the rules of the legislation for getting employment.
When you become a member of NREGA, then you are entitled to all benefits of the scheme and none of the liabilities are attached to your name. You have the option of choosing your area where you can avail the direct employment opportunity in the form of job cards.
